TopBraid EDG 9.0 – Release Notes

Overview

TopBraid EDG 9.0 delivers foundational upgrades that improve performance, interoperability, and AI readiness. This release enhances GraphRAG capabilities, introduces a unified notification system, expands RDF 1.2 standards support, and updates the platform to the latest Java and Tomcat versions.

GraphRAG Improvements

EDG 9.0 extends graph-grounded retrieval with smarter content processing and integration:

  • Chunking & Parsing: Automatically chunk and parse content from a document corpus in EDG or directly from connected CMSs.

  • Vector Search Integration: Retrieve chunked content through vector search combined with SPARQL, available in both the SPARQL API and GraphQL API.

  • Python SDK: Build GraphRAG applications using LlamaIndex or any preferred Python library.

These enhancements make EDG a powerful foundation for enterprise RAG and AI assistant use cases.

Unified Notification Experience

A new user-configurable notification system lets each user control how they receive updates:

  • Configure notification preferences via the User Preferences page.

  • Choose email, in-app, both, or none.

  • Notifications are off by default—users can enable them to restore pre-9.0 behavior.

RDF 1.2 Reification Support

EDG 9.0 introduces support for RDF 1.2 reification, in addition to TopBraid’s existing reification model.

  • Compatible with SPARQL 1.2 and Turtle 1.2.

  • A Modify action in each collection’s Home Assets enables conversion to RDF 1.2.

  • Native reification support will be deprecated once RDF 1.2 becomes an official W3C standard.

Platform Updates

EDG 9.0 requires upgrades to Java 21 and Tomcat 11 for compatibility and improved performance.
